11 local students selected to participate in educational 1950s photo shoot

Harvey Avidon Photography (HAP) announced today that has carefully selected 11 students from John Robert Powers, Empire Beauty and other modeling and talent agencies to participate in a 1950s-themed photo shoot. The 1950s-themed photo shoot will be held on Sunday, 24 June 2012 at the Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts (BU-CDIA), located at 274 Moody Street in Waltham, Mass.
Members of the media are invited to attend this event. The entrance to the studio is diagonally across from 274 Moody Street in Waltham, Mass, down the Whitney Street driveway. HAP will post signage to better direct attendees to the shoot location.
This announcement comes after the wild success of HAP's "test" photo shoot, which was held in early March 2012, also at BU-CDIA. Under the direction of HAP's team of leading photographers, hair stylists, makeup artists, and fashion experts, top students from Empire Beauty School helped recreate and capture the drama of the "Roaring '20s." His team includes David Salo (photographer), Mark Goodliss (Master Stylist, Dellaria Salons), Sophia Karakostas (cosmetologist, Etant Spa)and Tricia Cromwell (fashion expert; founder of Trust in Tricia Wardrobe Consulting). "The students who were involved in [HAP's] 1920's fashion shoot were just bursting at the seams to relay their experience to their friends and classmates. We are excited to be able to offer our students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience – in an energetic, creative, environment – from industry experts," says Emily Shuman, Career Planning Specialist at Empire Beauty School.
"We want this to be a valuable opportunity for local art, fashion, modeling and beauty students, as well as an opportunity for our team to come together on projects that we feel passionate about," says Harvey Avidon, Managing Director of HAP. Students who are accepted to participate will gain hands-on, real-world experience in the fields of photography, modeling, hair design and styling, makeup, fashion, production and more. HAP will also guide these young artists in developing strong personal portfolios to give them an edge when seeking full-time, post-graduate employment.
